"I've tried pretty much everything - snowboarding, skydiving, driven motorcycles - and this is by far the biggest adrenaline rush."
Alex Lundqvist is known in the paintball world for his on-field exploits but he's more recognizable from his side career as a Swedish supermodel. His life consists of flying around the world for photo shoots while carefully fitting some time in with his paintball team. While he freely admits that modeling is more glamorous than paintball, if you're after adrenaline, paintball is the way to go.
The first match of the game feature's Lundqvist's Jersey Authority and the Oakland Blast. Oakland loses one player on the break but shortly thereafter Jersey suffers a one for one (one player is eliminated and another teammate is eliminated as a penalty for the first player playing on). After a player is eliminated from each team, its 5-4 for Blast. Oakland is able to use its numbers to pick off another Authority player and then starts marching up the field with its 5-3 lead. Rather than playing defense an Authority player makes an aggressive run up the field and picks off two Blast players while another Blast gets hit in the back corner - in just a few seconds Jersey goes from down two to up one with three players left. After wiping out one side of Oakland's team, Jersey is able to get behind the remaining Blast players and wins with 3 players left.
The next match features the Portland Naughty Dogs and Sacramento Excessive with the winner advancing to the finals. Excessive starts off the game with only six players thanks to a gun penalty from a previous game and off the break they lose one more before hitting a Naughty Dogs player right after. Both teams hole up for a few minutes and try to pick off opponents from a distance and the Naughty Dogs manage to hit another Excessive player, increasing their lead to 6-3. Naughty Dogs have the angles and pick off the last three Excessive players one after another and win 6-0.
The final match pits the Jacksonville Raiders against Jersey Authority. Jacksonville loses two players on the break but keep pushing up the field. A run by a Raider player ends up with one Authority player out before he's eliminated leaving Jersey with a 6-4 advantage. Jersey loses a player off a long shot and then another is hit from across the field, tying the game at 4 players apiece. With the game tied a Raider player does a great job of snap shooting over a bunker to eliminate the fourth Authority player, giving the Raiders their first lead of the match. With numbers and position on their side, Jacksonville is able to pick off the remaining Authority players as they try a desperation run. After starting off down two off the break, Jacksonville only lost one more player the rest of the game.
Episode 9 marks the end of the qualifying rounds with eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals: San Diego Dynasty, Los Angeles Infamous, Stockholm Joy Division, Edmonton Impact, Pittsburgh All Americans, Los Angeles Ironmen, Jacksonville Raiders and Portland Naughty Dogs.
Next week start the round robin quarterfinals to see who will advance to the semifinals.
