Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint Episode 6

By , About.com Guide

First Aired: November 6, 2007

"Paintball is absolutely intense."

Josh Davey is the head of Edmonton Impact which is known as the premiere Canadian paintball team. As a team the Impact were recently honored by Edmonton's mayor for their positive representation of the city and the cameras were invited along to see the presentation. While paintball is still a growing sport throughout the world, it's always nice to see a dignitary recognize the positive effect it can have on young people's lives.

As a way of showing us a little bit about Davey, the crew followed him around as he was introduced to roller coasters and bungee jumping. For someone who loves the adrenaline of paintball it seems only natural that the thrills of an amusement park would be appealing, but Josh hated it. Not only did he spend his roller coaster ride chanting how he didn't want to be there but he ended up with his head in a garbage can afterwards. His adventure with bungee jumping didn't go much better. He'll probably just stick with paintballing from here on out.

Match one features the Edmonton Impact and the Chicago Farside. Right of the break the Farside lose two players. A few seconds later, two more Farside players are eliminated and right after, another Farside player is picked off. Leading 7-2 the Impact quickly advance and eliminate the final Farside players, completing the 7-0 sweep in 65 seconds.

Game two has the Impact taking on the Pittsburgh All Americans. The Impact continue to own the break and pick off one All American player. Shortly thereafter Pittsburgh loses two more players and trails 7-4. Trying desperately to regain position, the All Americans try to advance and lose a fourth player. The Impact are able to pick off another All American player form a distance and the last two follow suit. Edmonton wins with all 7 players left for the second time.

The final match pits the Impact against Jersey Authority. One player from each team is eliminated on the break and Jersey loses a second shortly thereafter. Impact is able to pick off another Authority player before the Impact lose their second, giving the Impact a 5-4 lead. A funny scene follows as an Authority and an Impact player end up about eight feet apart and don't realize it. Eventually, the Impact player catches on and casually eliminates the Authority Player, increasing their lead to 5-3. With superior numbers Impact is able to advance and wins with four players remaining, completing their sweep of today's matches.

Next week will feature Brian Fow.
