Paintball is often viewed as a masculine sport with the bulk of the players being masculine. While this is, in all truth, the general rule, there are many paintball girls who play and are involved with the sport.
Note: This is not an article about the paintball girls who just look pretty, model and hold up paintball guns for magazines or appear as eye candy at events. While they are involved with paintball in the loosest sense, they really aren't part of paintball. Many of the "paintball girls" you see in the magazines are simply models who have no affinity for the sport (unless you count the modeling contract).
Players
There are many girls that play paintball. While there are
teams that are composed of all girls, girls often simply join a team and might be the only female
member. Additionally, it's very common to see girls at paintball fields whether they are members of teams or simply go along with some male friends. Paintball girls are more common than you might think.
Behind the Scenes
Many women are involved behind the scenes of paintball. Whether it's
writers, store managers, designers or business owners. Many fields and stores are run effectively by husband and wife teams. There are countless paintball girls who you might not see on the field but definitely affect the industry and the sport.
Support
Behind the majority of the male players there's a female who either supports or tolerates the activity. Not only did my wife regularly play paintball with me before kids came, but she still encourages me to continue to play, indulges my hunger for new gear and helps me create time to go and play. I know many men who play because of the help of a special female in their life.
