The drop test is a simple test used to determine if your paintballs are either too hard or too brittle.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Less than 5 minutes
Here's How:
- Take a random paintball out of its bag and hold out about six feet over a concrete surface.
- Drop the ball and then catch it after the first bounce and before it bounces again.
- Repeat the process and count how many times it takes until the ball breaks on contact with the concrete.
- Repeat the process with five balls from the bag and determine the average number of drops for the paint to break.
Tips:
- An ideal batch of paintballs will break after, on average, 3-5 drops onto concrete.
- Paint that takes 1 or 2 bounces to break is brittle and is much more likely break in the barrel or chamber of your gun.
- A batch of balls that takes more than 5 bounces to break is hard and will more likely bounce off of your target without breaking.
