Expansion Chamber

By David Muhlestein, About.com

Definition: A device that sits between the ASA and the valve of the paintball gun that is filled with multiple cavities or "stages" that air must pass through. By forcing the air to fill up the expansion chamber before reaching the valve, there is less of a chance that liquid CO2 will reach the internals of the paintball gun. Expansion chambers are not necessary for guns that use compressed air.
