The Tippmann Model 98 Custom is an update of the legendary Model 98 that is more easily upgraded but still retains the original's durability and reliability. The Model 98 Custom is a good choice for beginners who are interested in heavily customizing their own paintball gun or for players who want a decent gun that will last for years to come.

The A-5 is one of the most reliable mechanical paintball guns on the market today. While it is not as light or as fast as many more expensive electro-pneumatic guns, its dependability, upgradeability, durability and lower price make it a favorite among many paintball enthusiasts.

3. US Army Alpha Black

The Tippmann-built US Army Alpha Black is a durable yet inexpensive gun that is perfectly suited for the beginning player or anyone who prizes durability and simplicity over lightness and speed.

4. US Army Alpha Black Tactical

The Tippmann-built US Army Alpha Black Tactical is a pre-upgraded version of the Alpha black that will appeal to the scenario or MilSim player. While it doesn't offer much in the way of performance upgrades, it is cosmetically and ergonomically superior to its little brother.

5. Tippmann Model 98

The original Tippmann Model 98 is a legend in the paintball industry. While there have been updated versions of the gun, the basic Model 98 is still a very reliable paintball gun that is a great choice for the beginning or intermediate paintball player.
