Electros Are Going To The Woods

Tuesday February 5, 2008
With the availability of electronic paintball guns it was inevitable for electros to make the jump to the woods. While it's always been common for a speedballer to bring a shiny electro out for a game, something about bright anodizing always seemed out of place.

Recognizing the market for light electronic paintball guns that were designed for the woods, manufacturers began creating woodsball-specific electros like the SP-8. The newest trend, though, is to say that the existing tournament guns work well in the woods and simply anodizing them so they blend in, like this new Proto Rail.

I've met some players who think electros only belong on a speedball field and true woodsballers stick with traditional mechanicals - I disagree. If you like a paintball gun, then use it where you want to, whether it's an A-5 on a speedball course or an Ego in the woods. If you're longing for the good old days of paintball before speed and efficiency, there's always stock class.
