PSP Drops Maximum Rate of Fire
Wednesday January 9, 2008
The PSP has amended its rules and the maximum rate of fire has been dropped from 15 balls per second to 13.33 balls per second. While this may not really affect people who use a semi-automatic paintball gun, those who use ramping (which is legal in the PSP) will have to turn down their guns to avoid a penalty.
While shooting a million balls a second is fun, my hope is that slowing paintball guns down a little bit is a trend that will continue throughout the paintball industry. I'm not against guns that shoot fast, and sometimes it's a lot of fun to play a game or two with 20 bps ramping. But, it's more expensive and not as fun to play at fields where all you do is shoot a rope of paint and hope someone walks into it.

ok the fact that they dropped it a bit is cool and I agree with it, but it shouldn’t be dropped any more. Most good players that play tournaments with the exception of back men, don’t just unload paint, they move to a spot where they can fire a few rounds to get the person out. Plus at that level of of play the people on the teams know whats going on, and know how to control how much they shoot. Only the really new amatures shoot like that, and they don’t even play competitively.
