The First Paintball Field

Follow me on:

Steve Davidson at 68Caliber.com has been writing a five-part series detailing his adventure in finding the field in New Hampshire where paintball was first played almost 30 years ago.  The first four parts have been released and the fifth and final part should come out tomorrow.  It's a fun detective story to read, and the historical implications are also important.  I highly recommend you check it out.

Steve is one of the true old-timers in the sport of paintball and has been following the sport almost since the beginning.  It's apparent by reading the story that this quest was a labor of love and I'm grateful he's gone to the effort of documenting where everything started. Like John Amodea at Paintball X3's History site, Steve has done irreplaceable work in preserving the history of our sport.  Paintball will only turn 29 this month (born on June 27, 1981), but its early history is already a fuzzy blur to many of the participants and it was poorly documented at the time. It's great that some people who were there at the beginning care enough about it to preserve the history for those yet to play.
