The Nemesis

Monday July 14, 2008
As much fun as it is to play a game of paintball, the level of enjoyment can increase exponentially if you have a nemesis. A nemesis doesn't have to be someone you dislike, in fact, it's preferable if you really get along with that person. What a nemesis is, then, is a person that you must have a personal vendetta against in every game.

While Robby is one of my best friends, he also makes the perfect nemesis for a game of paintball. While it's great to play on the same team as him, it's equally as fun to be on opposite since we know that we'll end up shooting at each other. Even if my team loses, if I can eliminate Robby, I can always consider it a personal victory. Conversely, losing a game and getting hit by Robby is a crushing blow. No matter who's team wins more, at the end of the day we always count the times we hit it each other and we crown the day's winner. It not only keeps things interesting on a slow day but it's a great way to assign bragging rights.

It's amazing how much fun it can be to make an "enemy" out of a friend.
